A Southsea guest liked the appearance of the pool area but could not use the pool because the water was green and murky. They also found the room clean and the beach opposite attractive. That is an important split in their experience: liking the setting did not mean they could enjoy the facility they had expected to use.

Another visitor had returned several times for the quiet location and access to a nearby surf spot. A later guest found the property relaxing and the staff helpful, while also describing the place as tired. The accounts do not give one simple verdict. They show a setting that people can enjoy and maintenance concerns that matter to particular stays.

The official website uses the name The Grand Southsea Khaolak Beach Resort and places it at Pakarang Beach. Agoda currently calls it Southsea Khaolak Beach Resort. The matching address and beach help connect those names to the corrected listing, rather than assuming every similarly named Southsea hotel is the same place.

The website describes garden-access and balcony rooms. Those positions offer different ways to use the outdoor space, but the guest with the pool concern also reported many mosquitoes on their balcony. A balcony photograph alone does not tell us how comfortable that space was during their visit.

The location is another part of the decision. One guest said transport was needed to get around; another found only a few small restaurants close by. The visitor who liked the surf setting saw the quieter surroundings as an advantage. Someone hoping to step out into the main Khao Lak dining area may see them differently.

Swimming is an important concern in this particular set of reports. The beach setting is a reason to consider Southsea, but one visitor's unusable pool is a substantial concern for a trip built around pool time. I have no independent evidence of the pool's condition after that stay.

Sources and scope

This is a researched editorial review, not an account of a personal stay.

Five Agoda comments dated February–August 2026 were read. Pool-water and balcony mosquito concerns are one February 2026 report; repair status is unknown. The corrected Agoda page and the associated official site share the Pakarang location/address but display different forms of the Southsea name. No current pool condition is certified.
